Process Engineer

Location: Rotterdam, NL Commitment: Full time Experience: 2+ years

The Mission

At AddOptics, we design and manufacture precision lenses for the next generation of smart eyewear. Our lenses seamlessly integrate the latest technology (such as electronics and displays) with vision correction, allowing end users to experience the next generation of smart glasses comfortably. As we scale and expand our product range and production capabilities, we are also growing our engineering team at our technology center in Rotterdam.

As part of the engineering team, you'll take practical engineering challenges from problem to validated solution. You'll design and optimize manufacturing processes, set up experiments in our R&D lab, validate the results, and implement changes in our production facility. Your projects can range from introducing new materials and coatings to implementing tooling for automated mass production.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Developing and improving production methods as part of our engineering team.

  • Analyzing, optimizing, and scaling manufacturing processes to improve product quality and production performance.

  • Assessing our current production capabilities and working closely with production and commercial teams to turn challenges into practical solutions.

  • Managing process improvement projects from design and testing through implementation and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • A BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience. Strong recent graduates with relevant internship or part-time experience are also welcome to apply.

  • A pragmatic approach to process optimization, balancing short-term operational fixes that keep production moving with long-term engineering solutions that prevent future issues.

  • Strong data analysis and statistics skills, combined with a structured approach to root-cause analysis.

  • Clear written and spoken English.

  • Nice to have: experience with polymer production, advanced data analysis using Python or similar tools, or work in a regulated industry such as medical devices or aerospace.

The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here

You're an analytical thinker who enjoys getting hands-on and turning complex production challenges into practical improvements. You take initiative, communicate clearly, and work well across engineering, production, and commercial teams. When results conflict or requirements change, you stay curious, work through the evidence, and help the team find a way forward.

What You'll Get

  • A hard and meaningful challenge. Working on technical problems with real-world impact every day.

  • An engineering role that grows with the factory — within an interdisciplinary team.

  • We take the work seriously, and we take the time to celebrate what we achieve together.

  • Competitive salary and benefits
